As spaceship commander Ted Shaw on ABC's Sunday science-fiction series "Defying Gravity," Malik Yoba is on a tour of the solar system. But for the 41-year-old actor, doing the series was more like time travel than space travel.
"I think every little boy thought about going into space," Yoba says. "As a kid, definitely, I was trying to be Captain Kirk.

ABC still intends to finish Defying Gravity's run ... eventually PDF Print E-mail

I thought Defying Gravity was over. Kona wasn't sure, but had little hope. The internet ran with it and there were unsubstantiated reports that ABC would never air the final five episodes. It was frustrating because it ended just before the big reveal as to what the "beta" entity was. So it looked like it would be another chapter in the long list of television shows that ended on a maddening cliffhanger.

I don't know what those episodes have in store, or if they provide better closure than what we have now, but ABC felt it was important enough to curb the rumors by putting out a statement that they fully intend to air those last Defying Gravity episodes. They just aren't sure when.

Update: Okay, I goofed. The word had started to go around that Defying Gravity had been canceled, and based on sources that are normally very reliable (including Cynopsis), I rushed to report that news. I certainly wasn't the only one. It turns out, however, that the reports of the show's cancellation were speculation, not fact, based on displacement of the show owing to ABC's season premieres.

Fall season pushes drama series off the radar, but it doesn't mean ABC has thrown in the towel quite yet

Fear not, followers of the Antares. ABC has not canceled "Defying Gravity." Not yet, anyway.

That news may not be as comforting as it was intended to be, though, as the summer science-fiction series has vanished from the ABC schedules after only eight episodes, leaving its viewers dangling by a thread at the prospect of discovering the truth about the Antares mission and the mysterious "Beta."

No, Wait, ABC Says It Hasn't Canceled 'Defying Gravity' PDF Print E-mail

ABC denied reports that it has pulled the plug on "Defying Gravity," says the Futon Critic, but it isn’t saying when the show will return. The series started late in the summer, so ABC wasn’t able to air all of the 13 first-season episodes before the fall crunch began.
